MyDrinkaware App
Want to change the way you drink? Get the free app from Drinkaware; track your alcohol consumption over time, calculate units and calories and set goals to help you moderate your drinking!
Drinkaware is funded by voluntary and unrestricted donations from major UK alcohol producers, pub operators, restaurants, major supermarkets and other retailers.
Drinkaware donors help support our aim to reduce harmful drinking by directing their customers to information and advice on the Drinkaware website (through the use of drinkaware.co.uk on packaging and advertising); and help extend the reach and impact of our campaigns as part of their commitment to social responsibility. Our research publications are made available to donors, as they are to non-donors and the general public, on our website.
Income from consumer information, logo licencing and partnerships may be generated by Drinkaware Trading Limited. Drinkware Trading Limited (company number 11735195) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Drinkaware Trust and trades only to raise funds for its charity’s aims.
The work of Drinkaware is overseen by an independent Board of Trustees, chaired by Sir Leigh Lewis, who each bring relevant expertise to the operations of Drinkaware and act with full independence. Our independent governance, and our commitment to be led by evidence, was in 2014 further strengthened in response to the recommendations of the 2013 independent review of Drinkaware.
Our Memorandum and Articles of Association state that trustees shall be appointed through an open recruitment process based solely on their ability to meet the needs of the Trust; and that the Board may only appoint Trustees who are currently employed in the alcohol industry, or have a policy role with respect to alcohol, if they satisfy this criterion and if there are not more than two such Trustees in either category.
Drinkaware is committed to being evidence-led and to contribute positively to the evidence base around alcohol-related harm; all of our medical information and guidance for the public is reviewed by our independent Medical Advisory Panel, and Drinkaware holds Information Standard accreditation to reassure people that the information provided is impartial and accessible.
In 2014, the Research and Impact Committee, chaired by trustee Dr Timothy Walker, was established to oversee the work of our internal research function. By publishing the results of our evidence reviews, evaluations and other research on the Drinkaware website and in peer-reviewed journals, we share our learning transparently and hope to contribute to the wider knowledge on how best to reduce alcohol-related harm.
In April 2017 we launched a new five-year strategy that sets out Drinkaware's overall aims and provides clarity on how we plan to deliver against them by 2022.
If you find you are struggling with alcohol, you may find it helpful to seek support from a community you feel safer or more at home with.
Alcohol support services across the UK are available for anyone to access. There are also some organisations that offer free and confidential peer-led support for specific groups, if you prefer that type of help. These organisations can often offer more tailored and sensitive peer support based on ethnicity, race, or religion.
Regardless of the type of alcohol support you’re after, it’s important to know that there is a variety of help available that might meet your needs more closely.
Nottingham-based BAC-IN specialise in providing Black, South Asian, and other minority ethnic groups with alcohol and drug peer support services. They also offer family support, group sessions, virtual sessions, and home visits to anyone in or around the Nottingham area.

Take a look at just some of the great reviews of the MyDrinkaware app:
Love this app. So easy to use no long-winded complicated stuff. The alerts to keep you on track are great. Truly didn’t realise how much alcohol I was consuming until I installed this. Excellent way to reduce whilst still having a tipple. - 5 stars.
This app really helped me to manage and cut down how much I drank. My drinking ‘habits’ have now changed considerably. I used to drink about 3 bottles of wine a week and now it’s less than a bottle. Using the app made this as easy as it could be. Highly recommend. - 5 stars.
I’ve been using the Drinkaware app for 2 years now and I’ve dramatically cut down how much I consume and the frequency. - 5 stars.
I’m actually keeping track of how much I consume, and I genuinely think it is helping me feel better about my whole consumption habits. - 5 stars.
I’ve never been a heavy drinker but when the recommended limit was reduced to 14 units, and when I decided I had to lose weight, I thought I’d try using the Drinkaware App. It’s been brilliant. I log every drink (not hard to do) and make sure I keep within limits. I’ll sometimes exceed a weekly limit but never the 28 day limit. This sometimes involves planning ahead - not drinking for a few days ahead of a holiday for an example. Give it a try. - 5 stars.
