Drinkaware partnered with Students Organising for Sustainability UK (SOS-UK) to launch a programme aimed at encouraging university students across the UK to check their drinking habits.
With participation from 41 universities nationwide, the initiative offered students tailored resources and ambassador-led assessments with the purpose of driving positive change in campus drinking culture.
Research by SOS-UK highlighted the importance of these efforts, revealing that 38% of students had missed a lecture or a seminar due to drinking, while 32% had experienced an argument under the influence of alcohol.
Central to the programme was Drinkaware’s Drinking Check, which allowed students to understand their drinking habits and receive tailored advice to support moderation. Student ambassadors led in-person assessments at 11 university campuses, encouraging more open conversations about drinking and better relationships with alcohol.
Additionally, Drinkaware developed various resources, including posters, newsletters, videos, and webinars. This ensured students had access to practical tips and guidance throughout the academic year and helped them manage their drinking and reduce alcohol-related harm.
