Shān Nicholas has joined Drinkaware as interim chief executive from November 24, replacing Elaine Hindal whose resignation was announced earlier in the year after almost nine years at the helm.

Shān brings a wealth of experience as an interim CEO in the voluntary sector and has recently finished eight months in this role at Parkinson’s UK. She has held the same position at Independent Age, The Children’s Society and The Refugee Council and has also worked as a consultant and mentor for executives and directors through her company Lasting Transformation Ltd.

Shān said: “I’m excited to be joining Drinkaware and to have the opportunity to help change the UK’s drinking habits for the better. The pandemic has had a huge impact on people’s relationship with alcohol, so the charity’s work to reduce alcohol harm is more important than ever.”

Lucy Armstrong, chair of the board of trustees, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Shān to Drinkaware. With her breadth of experience from across the sector, she will be a great asset to the charity as she leads us through our next chapter.”
