Drinkaware appoints Dr Paul Hughes as Chair of Independent Advisory Panel

Dr Hughes brings more than 30 years of experience to the role, including five years as Executive Medical Director at the national drug, alcohol, and mental health charity We Are With You, and in the military where he was the Commanding Officer at the world-renowned Headley Court Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre. He is currently the National Medical Director for Operose Health the largest primary care provider of NHS General Practice services in the UK.

Dr Hughes takes on the role from Dr Fiona Sim OBE who stepped down in November 2023 after more than six years. To deliver Drinkaware’s new strategy, Dr Hughes will be leading an expanded Independent Advisory Panel with new members joining with expertise in behavioural sciences and public health policy to sit alongside medical experts.

Speaking about his appointment Dr Paul Hughes said:
