Professor David Best

David Best is a professor of addiction recovery at Leeds Trinity University, the first professor in this subject globally.

David has over 13 years’ experience as a professor working across different universities including the University of Derby and Sheffield Hallam University. He has led research into work on desistance from offending, recovery capital and pathways to addiction recovery. He is also Honorary Professor of Regulation and Global Governance at Australian National University and an Adjunct Associate Professor of Addiction Studies at Monash University in Melbourne. He is also an Affiliate Senior Scientist at the Public Health Institute in California, USA, Chair of the Prison Research Network for the British Society of Criminology and President of the recovery outcomes institute in Florida, USA.
