We’re very proud of our Drinkaware website. Millions of people visit us every year to learn more about the health effects of alcohol and learn how to reduce the risk of harm from drinking.
We go to great lengths to ensure our information is accurate and reliable. All of our content is approved by an independent panel of Doctors, Professors, GPs and specialists.
NHS England have awarded us The Information Standard to guarantee to you that we’re one of the best providers of health and social care information around.
But it’s important to us that we keep improving. That’s why we run a survey a few times a year to ask you for feedback and learn how we can do better.
Here’s what you said….
Why do you come to us?
The Drinkaware website offers information on a whole range of subjects, from vital information on drink driving limits and what alcohol can do to your liver to the age-old question “Why does alcohol make me pee more?”
The thing that drives many people back to the website is to use our online tools to learn more about their drinking. 28% use our online drinks tracker MyDrinkaware.
It is now also possible to track ‘on the go’ by downloading our FREE Drinkaware Track and Calculate Units app.
The second most popular reason (28%) was to find out about the many ways alcohol can affect our health. Followed by getting help, advice and tips to cut back on how much you’re drinking (22%).
Did you know the maximum penalty for using fake ID to buy alcohol? Well, the 18% of our visitors who came to learn about the law or guidelines on alcohol certainly do.
What you think?
Over half of all people we asked said the information on our site was ‘very trustworthy’ with only 3% reporting it was ‘not trustworthy’.
It’s important that when we present the facts we are free from bias. You can make your own informed choice. We’re pleased that the vast majority of people agree we do that with 4 in 5 of our visitors judging us to be objective and impartial.
Did we help?
What drives us is to provide the facts, information and tools needed to help reduce alcohol harm. That’s why we’re thrilled 9 in 10 of our visitors strongly agreed that they had gained a better understanding of the effects of drinking after visiting our website.
Tell us what you think?
An important part of the survey is to get the chance to hear directly from you. We ask for anonymous feedback. We’re thrilled to say, the feedback we got was very positive:
“I like that no one is passing judgement … only trying to help by educating and providing tools to help cut down on alcohol consumption.” Female, 46 to 55.
“I have been using the drink diary for about 18 months now. I find it very useful and rely on it to assist in my controlling my alcohol consumption.” Male, 36 to 45.
“I think your website is excellent, full of useful information.” Female, 46 to 55.
“Great website – very helpful. Clever to use calories especially for women.” Female, 36 to 45.
