The Drinkaware Trust (Drinkaware) - the UK charity which aims to reduce alcohol harm – is using a comedy video to deliver messages about surviving the Christmas season. Loaded on YouTube, it is entitled ‘How to survive the office Christmas party’ and the five minute funny has already had 13,000 views in just over three days.
In Peep Show style, it brings to life Drinkaware’s Christmas alcohol guidance by following ‘Alex’, a 33 year old professional, as he gets ready and goes out to his work party – with hilarious results.
By following practical advice such as eating before the party and drinking soft drinks in between alcohol, Alex cringes as he watches his colleagues embarrass themselves, then gets his dream girl and truly has a Christmas to remember.
The film, which was produced by VideoJug, can also be viewed on Drinkaware.co.uk. It forms part of a wider Drinkaware campaign called ‘Tips for a Christmas to remember’, with a million tip cards being distributed to UK pubs, London taxis and Guinness Premiership rugby matches throughout December.

Notes to Editors:
The Drinkaware Trust is an independent charity set up by agreement of government, health and drinks industry leaders in 2006. Its sole purpose is to provide credible, independent and authoritative advice about alcohol to consumers, focussing on under-18s and adults aged 25-44 whose drinking puts them at risk of long-term harm.
To make this Christmas one to remember, Drinkaware’s suggests the following tips:
• Avoid drinking on an empty stomach – food slows down the absorption of alcohol
• Pace yourself, there’s no rush – drink slowly
• Include soft drinks in your celebration
• Don’t leave yourself vulnerable – plan your journey home
The morning after:
• Drink plenty of water to rehydrate
• Avoid ‘hair of the dog’ – it doesn’t work!
• Over-done it? Have two alcohol-free days
