Pintsize Theatre - I Want, I Want

On the back of their two awards in 2010, Pintsize have received further funding for another tour of the I Want, I Want play and workshop, to be delivered in 2012 from January to April across Nottinghamshire.

Between them, the drama, workshop and accompanying classroom material endeavour to tackle the questions of what constitutes a healthy attitude to alcohol and why a significant minority of young people and adults get it wrong. To this end, the project jointly targets around 3,000 school pupils in years 6-8, as well as their parents or carers, in the course of sixty performances. As well as bringing about a repeat delivery of an engaging and highly effective piece to an entirely new cohort of pupils, Pintsize has shown itself to be well ahead of many small non-profit making bodies in its attempts to adapt to the new and challenging economic climate. Having recently become a registered charity, they are now able to exploit alternative fundraising methods to continue their work, and move away from the ever decreasing statutory sources which had been a great support in previous years.

In Drinkaware’s view, Pintsize are entering into a new era and, while this particular product is largely unchanged, the business models employed to sustain their work will never be the same. It is an uncertain period for all charities, but the need for strong legacies with all initiatives grows constantly.

With this award, Drinkaware believed that it was not only investing in a well-evaluated, familiar product, but supplying a future platform to an organisation that it knows supplies some of the strongest educational theatre on alcohol in the country at a value that is very hard to match.
