Project: Drinkaware Time - A Week to Remember, Not to Forget
Region: East Midlands, Derby and Nottingham area
Amount approved: £24,550

Tangere Arts run educational community theatre projects for young people exploring subjects in the PSHE curriculum.

Where as most theatre in education projects are delivered within a day, Tangere Arts want to test an intensive, whole-school approach involving a week-long course of alcohol awareness and education.

The work will be delivered to schools in three different deprived areas and will include performances of three of Tangere’s plays on alcohol for different age groups: 'Digger' (for years 7 & 8), 'Party Time' (for years 9 & 10) and 'Lauren' (for years 11 & 12).

The performances will be supplemented by class work materials, PSHE-based workshops and the performers will be available during the whole week for students to ask questions.

Each of the plays has been evaluated previously for impact and shown to have effect on knowledge and immediate attitudes.
