Sophie will be giving a frank portrayal of university life and the role alcohol plays in it. This week she heads up to Nottingham for a mini music festival.
My recent antics led me to Nottingham Trent University. Originally planned as a boozy festival weekend, my poor navigational skills shortened my weekend to a slightly influenced few hours…
I regret stepping foot in the only Hooters in England, I felt like I’d walked into the States, I may have even heard a few Hill Billy “yee hahs”. I didn’t stay in the boozy tavern for long after a middle age man seemed to suggest that I was a prostitute. I assume it’s the place to pick them up. Mmm. Although… I really wanted to buy a t-shirt.
My main reason for visiting Nottingham was the Dot to Dot Festival, similar to the Camden Crawl, yet in the end I only got to see two bands after driving for hours to find the house we were crashing in. Beach house, my favourite band made all the travelling worth while though.
I wasn’t particularly drunk, however my friend continued to indulge in pint sized gin and tonics which didn’t do him many favours the next morning.
I don’t recall seeing any particularly off the rails students, everything was really relaxed, when walking out of the venues, the streets were pretty empty too. I was expecting the place to be crawling.
I spent most of the time in the S.U, I think the drinks were cheap… but to be honest I never take notice of prices, you just know that a note should do the trick, then I usually lose all my change after stuffing it in my bra along with my phone, lipstick, lip lock, cloakroom ticket, debit card, driving licence and anything else necessary. And then if I crash on the sofa in my clothes, I’ll jump In the shower in the morning and have loads of pound coins stuck to me!!
I need to get saving, I’ve got two festivals coming up and I’m guessing that food and alcohol aren’t going to be anything other than extortionately priced.

How is this 'a frank portrayal' - this isn't anything like the Freshers week I remember; this seems so event-less.

I think the people trying to convince themselves they are party animals are the others who comment that this blog is 'eventless' and 'tame'......in an attempt to say 'I was so crazy, and drank more than anyone else ever has....EVER!' Wow you are so mad, bet you're the life and soul. I like this blog, and I certainly wouldn't read if it was just exaggerated nonsense - like most drunken stories are!

She doesn't pay attention to prices? This is not a typical "fresher", it's an art school student whose parents pay for everything. Can drinkaware try to find some balance, and have a student blogger who is working alongside the degree?

I think I may need to point out that I am working alongside my degree, and no my parents do not pay for everything

I think this blog sounds fake. Is Sophie a real fresher? The post sounds kind of forced, like she's trying really hard to convince people she's a party animal.
